In Assam Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) Saakkshar Bharat Mission (SBM) has been implemented in rural areas of twelve districts namely Dhemaji, Sonitpur, Darrang , Barpeta , Kokrajhar,Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Goalpara, Morigaon, Tinsukia, Karbi – Anglong and Hailakandi as per Govt. of India Guide lines .
Total 19,27,224 Non literates are targeted to make them literate and 6,55,876 persons are certified by the NIOS through “Learners Assessment Test” conducted by the National Literacy Mission Authority , MHRD,GOI .
In recognition of excellent deliberation of work for implementation of SBM programme ,Sonitpur District has been able to achieve the Best SBM District and GOI awarded the National Award in the International Literacy Day function held at New Delhi on 8th September/2016 (Attached Photos)
In Sonitpur districts 72 numbers of Voluntary Teacher (VT) working in the SBM programme has got placement in different organizations after getting training programme organized by the SBM district Sonitpur under the “Pradhamantri Koysal Vikash Yojana “ and “Employment Generation Mission”.
In Sonitpur and Darrang Districts Neo Literates have been able to establish themselves as good earning for their livelihood through the Skill Development training imparted in Adult Education Centres (AECs) of SBM programme .
In Assam seven MP areas are taken under “Saansad Adarsh Gram Yajona” (SAGY) under SBM programme to achieve 100% literate and these are namely Dhemaji, Sonitpur, Barpeta,Tinsukia, Hailakandi ,Karbi Anglong and Goalpara . During the period May/2016 to May/2017 Dhubri, Sonitpur , Karbi-Anglong ,Dhemaji and Hailakandi achieved 100% literate by March/2017 and rest will be able to achieve 100% literacy after declaration of “Assessment Test “ held on Oct/2017.
